You know how they say, “Go big or go home”? Well, in this case, it’s more like “Go big with your home!” One of the most extravagant mansions in the United States has just been listed in Los Angeles for an eye-popping $195 million. If someone decides to break open their piggy bank for this one, it’ll set a new record for the city, surpassing Jeff Bezos’ modest $165 million purchase of the Warner Estate back in 2020. Pocket change, right?
This colossal estate comes to the market following the high-profile divorce of billionaire Tony Pritzker and philanthropist Jeanne Pritzker. The former couple, who share six children and over 30 years of marriage, completed the construction of this luxurious abode in 2011. Talk about an unforgettable anniversary gift!
Location, Location, Location!
Nestled on approximately six acres in the exclusive Beverly Hills Post Office area, the mansion is just a stone’s throw—about a mile—from Bezos’ new digs. Perched on a promontory, it offers breathtaking 180-degree views of downtown Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean. Imagine waking up to that panorama every morning. Beats the view of my neighbor’s overgrown lawn any day.
Real estate gurus Stephen Shapiro and Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency are handling the listing. Rappaport notes, “It’s very rare to have this type of acreage with a view.” In a city where space is at a premium, this property is like finding a unicorn in your backyard.
A Mansion Fit for Royalty (or a Large Family Reunion)
Clad in imported white Italian limestone, this gated estate boasts about 50,000 square feet of pure opulence. With 16 bedrooms and 27 bathrooms, you’ll need a map to navigate—and perhaps a few extra guests to fill the space. And if you think 18 fireplaces are overkill in sunny California, well, you can never be too prepared for those chilly 65-degree winter nights!
The primary suite is a sanctuary within a sanctuary. It features his and hers bathrooms and closets, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, a dedicated hairdressing area, a custom pop-up TV (because reaching for the remote is so last year), and a balcony with views that might just make you forget to check your phone.

Amenities That Would Make a Five-Star Resort Jealous
Now, let’s talk about the fun stuff. The lower level includes a flower-prep room—for all your spontaneous floral arranging needs—and a soundproofed bowling alley complete with custom cabinetry for your personalized bowling balls and shoes. Strike!
Movie night takes on a whole new meaning with a large theater outfitted with velvet curtains, stage lighting, stadium seating, and a projector room. It’s like having your own private cinema, minus the sticky floors and the person who always asks, “Wait, what just happened?”
The kitchen is a chef’s dream (or a place to pretend you know how to cook). It comes equipped with three Gaggenau ovens, two stainless-steel sinks, and a dumbwaiter. I’ve always wanted to say, “Dinner is served,” and have it magically appear upstairs.
Outdoor Living Like You’ve Never Seen
Stepping outside, you’ll find a detached two-bedroom guesthouse with its own balcony, elevator, and patio. Perfect for guests who you like—but not enough to have in the main house.
The estate also features a lighted tennis court with a viewing pavilion, so you can host your own mini-Wimbledon. After working up a sweat, take a dip in the 75-foot green marble infinity pool overlooking the city. Nearby, an outdoor kitchen awaits, complete with two barbecues, a large pizza oven, and even a custom swimsuit spinner. Because who has time for soggy swimwear?
Rappaport points out that amenities like these are a rarity in the hills of Los Angeles. “It’s very rare to have this type of acreage with a view,” he emphasizes. In case you weren’t already convinced, this property is the real estate equivalent of a unicorn riding a comet.
Space for Everyone—including the Staff
Let’s not forget the people who help keep the estate running smoothly. The property includes a detached two-bedroom staff apartment, multiple staff lounges, and a staff kitchen. After all, even Batman had Alfred.
Designed for Grand Occasions
The Pritzkers are known for their philanthropic efforts, and the home was designed to host large fundraisers. It features a massive walk-in refrigerator—perfect for storing hors d’oeuvres and champagne—and an extensive underground parking structure to accommodate guests. Hosting a gala? No problem. You could probably fit a small country’s worth of attendees.
Shapiro notes that due to new building restrictions, recreating such an estate today would be nearly impossible. “You couldn’t build it today,” he says, adding, “This is the finest house I’ve ever seen.” High praise from someone who’s probably seen more luxury homes than I’ve had hot dinners.

A Legacy of Luxury
Tony Pritzker is the son of Donald Pritzker, co-founder of the Hyatt hotel chain, making him a member of one of America’s wealthiest families. Along with his brother, J.B. Pritzker (who stepped away from their investment firm around the time he became governor of Illinois in 2019), Tony co-founded the Pritzker Group. Talk about a family that keeps busy!
Back in 2001, Tony and Jeanne purchased a charming circa-1938 house in the Beverly Hills Post Office area for $9.5 million. Not content with just one property, they went on a bit of a shopping spree, acquiring several adjacent parcels on a ridge next to their home. While the exact total cost remains a bit of a mystery, one set of parcels was bought in 2005 for $14.7 million.
With the land assembled, they enlisted the late Ed Tuttle of Paris-based architecture firm Designrealization to bring their dream home to life. By 2011, they moved into the completed estate and sold their previous home to celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck for $14 million. I wonder if that deal came with unlimited reservations at Spago.
The Next Chapter
After more than three decades together, Tony and Jeanne separated in 2022. They reached a preliminary settlement in April 2024, and Jeanne moved out of the estate that month. Their divorce was finalized in May 2024. Tony has since purchased a $19.5 million penthouse at Westwood’s Beverly West condominium. You know, a cozy little place to call home.
Neither Tony nor Jeanne has commented publicly on the sale. Perhaps they’re letting the property speak for itself—and with features like these, it’s practically shouting from the rooftops.
Is This the Ultimate Dream Home?
So, if you’ve got $195 million burning a hole in your pocket and a desire to live like royalty (or host the ultimate bowling tournament), this estate might just be your perfect match. It’s a slice of paradise perched above Los Angeles, offering luxury, privacy, and amenities that most of us can only dream about.
And for the rest of us? Well, there’s always the Powerball.
